Photo A Day >< January >< Week 3

19th >< Spaghetti for dinner!
20th >< The well worn play jeans of a little cowboy:)
21st >< Beautiful hoar frost on the rose bush.  For something so pretty, why did it get such a name?
22nd >< My taller, younger, brother in the seat of the tractor.
23rd >< A few members from the elk herd that hang around our area/ The morning sun rays shining through the mist, illuminating the entire forest covered with hoar frost/ On my way back home.

This morning as I was in the kitchen, I looked out the window to see elk starting to make their way back up into the timber from the hay fields where they feed over night.  They started crossing just past the end of our driveway and since they were so close, I decided to try and get some pictures.  I quickly finished up what I was doing for mom, put on some jeans, pulled on my boots, and threw on a jacket, that was not near warm enough for the frigid temperature outside.  I missed my chance to capture any pictures of them at the end of our driveway but knew that they would be coming through a clearing a 1/4 mile away from our house.  I quickly made my way up to the clearing, hoping I would beat them there, and could get situated for some good shots. Well, I didn't get any pictures that I really like, but in wonder, I silently sat there watching them walk in front of me about 100 ft away.  God created elk as such majestic, and elusive animals, being that close and watching them was truly an awesome start to my day!
